Mother is a character who appears in Hello Charlotte Episode 3. She was Charles' and Scarlett's mother as well as the one controlling The House.

Personality

In the True Realm, Mother is shown to be incredibly depressed and somber, but is kind and loving to Charles whenever he speaks to her, telling him to "be a good girl", confusing him with Scarlett, implying she may have become detached from reality to an unknown extent.

In the False Realm, Mother is the one who assumes control of The House. She is depicted as much more outwardly mournful, with even her in-game sound effects being heavily distorted and filtered sobs. Despite this, she is still loving to all of her children, and possesses no malevolent desires.

Role in Plot

Hello Charlotte Episode 3

When she first appears in the True Realm prior to Charles' death, Mother is depicted as being completely wrapped up in her bed, unmoving with only part of her head sticking out from the sheets.

Later on in the game, it is revealed that the reason for Mother's unrelenting depression was Charles' father forcing her to abort her unborn child. The loss of Scarlett haunted her so severely to the point where she gave up and allowed herself to die silently in her bedroom. Her death was the final blow that caused Charles to commit suicide.

In the False Realm created after Charles dies, Mother is a gigantic, monstrous-looking entity who controls the House. She is the one birthing all the Charlottes, allowing them each a single wish for whatever it is they desire, at the cost of their lives after the wish is granted.

Eventually, Charles kills Mother by injecting the Ice-9 into her, which causes the House to crumble. However, this was his way of freeing both her and himself, and before he destroys her he hugs her and tells her that she did the best she could.
